Meet the Russell family. The parents, Teresa and Ian, are amazing people and I have a really high respect for them. So I was a little nervous but excited to be able to do their family photos. I had a lot of fun with all the yellow fall leaves and the black shirts. The colors went great together! They have the cutest little grand baby that I wanted to steal and take home with me, but I think her mama and family would've missed her to much.:)

I love this family! I did their pictures last year and they asked me to do them again this year. They have such fun ideas and I love spending the afternoon with them. My Grandparents have these really neat old fashion cars. The cars names are Ruby and Wilford. My Grandpa restored them and they drive them in parades and car shows. They're so much fun! They asked if I'd take some photos of them and while I was at it I got some shots of my grandparents as well. Who I love and and adore because their the best Grandparents in the world! This is one of my super cute Primary kids. Her name is Lauryn and next month she'll be getting baptized, so we took her out and got some photos of her in her gorgeous baptism dress. I love this girl! She has such a fun personality and always has a story to tell. She's friendly and bubbly and very photogenic. I had so much fun with her today. Congrats on turning 8 and getting baptized Lauryn! Photography 101

I went to what I thought was my final photography class today, but when I showed up everything that was being taught was things I already knew. Then I realized I'd signed up for the intermediate class again. Doh! So I talked to the teacher and he was way nice telling me to just stay for the intermediate and then come back for the advance no extra charge. Yay! Only problem now is that I have to wait till January because all the advance classes are booked. Oh well, it's okay. So here is a few of my favorite shots from today. I hate even posting these because I look at the photos done from others on this shoot who had a telephoto lens and they look 10 times better. I really REALLY need a telephoto lens!

One of my longest standing best friends hired me take her family pictures on Friday. She has such a fun little family with lots of personality. Although I've done the Ogden train station many times, I still love that place for photos and the vintage style the scenery provides. I also love these two cute boys! Intermediate Photography class

Today I went to my second photography class. This time I learned a lot of rules about photographing people. Which is what I've been needing. I learned how to pose them how not to pose them. How to get them to act more natural. I learned a lot and realized some mistakes I've been making. The other thing I learned is that I need a telephoto lens. My images will never be what I want them to be with out one. Photography is all about the lenses. So I think I'm going to take a break from the photography business until I can invest in a telephoto lens. I'll still photograph my boys and things around me I just won't go out and take photos professionally until I'm able to produce the quality of photography I'm looking for. It's amazing the difference a telephoto lens can make. Anyways here are a few of the shots I took at today's shoot. It took me awhile to figure out white balance but I eventually got the hang of it. :) I'll just have to practice practice practice!

My really good friend Deb is pregnant with her 2nd baby. It's a girl! She's due in a couple weeks so we decided she better have some photos taken of her cute belly. There is 4 things I love about these pictures. 1. The position of the sun. 2. The location. I love photos taken in fields, it gives them a country look. 3. The kicken boots Deb is wearing. and 4. The two gorgeous red heads! I'm a big fan of red hair. I think it's the prettiest of all the hair colors. Here are a few of my favorites. The Austin Family

I was able to spend the evening with the Austin family yesterday. It was the perfect time for taking photos. We started at 6pm and by 7pm the sun was casting it's rays every where, giving me some great sun glare shots. I had a lot fun with these guys and they even showed me a new location that I'm dying to do a portrait session at.

I had the opportunity to photograph my sister in laws wedding a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful wedding, held on her Fiances parents land. The scenery was amazing for pictures and my sister in law made a gorgeous bride! The Grooms brother played "Mary me" by "Train" on the guitar while the Bride walked down the aisle. It fit perfectly!

I had the privilege of taking photos for the Hirschi Family. They are an amazing family and I love them to death! They're so sweet and giving and a few months ago they adopted a baby girl from China, named EmmaLi. She is soooo adorable! I would've stolen her but I know I'd never be the amazing mama Kim is to her. We did their photos at the Bountiful Temple because in a few months they will be sealed there together forever.

EmmaLi was a tough one to get a smile from.

Her dad won her over tho and made her mama laugh too. :)

Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend the afternoon with 3 adorable lil kids. I fell in love with the little girl who had these cute little red shoes and teeny tiny earrings. Her and her big brother Mason just had their birthdays so their mom wanted some updated pictures of them. But, I couldn't leave out the fun middle brother Gage. So, we sneaked in a few of him as well. :)

They were so fun and their mom had way cute ideas! Thanks for being such great lil models guys. Your moms a lucky gal to have kids as sweet and cute as you are!

The pink cupcake disaster

Smith's sales these big cupcakes so I thought it'd be a fun idea to get one for Shay since it was her first birthday. What a mess! I not only stained all the children with bright pink frosting, but their mom was covered in it as well.The pics turned out really cute tho. Sorry again Heather.:)

Photography 101

I attended my very first Photography class today and WOW did I learn a lot! I can't believe how much easier lighting can be when you actually know the tricks to Aperture, ISO, Compensation and the right lens to use. These photos were all taken with a 55mm lens. It will be the only lens I'll use from now on until I can purchase the 75-200 lens. I took the class from Gallery Photography in Bountiful and the teacher did a great job! I am definitely a visual learner. I've read plenty of books trying to figure out aperture and I just didn't get it. I do now tho and I'm proud to say not one of these images were adjusted in PS. This is straight from the camera. I can't wait to go for my second class and learn more!

I have to take a moment to express my gratitude to my amazing husband who has taken care of our sick boys for the last 3 days while I worked and went to this photo class. He gives me so much support and I am richly blessed to have him in my life. As well as lots of family and friends who also encourage me to pursue my hobby in photography. I would in no way be as far as I am with out them in my life. Thank you! I love and appreciate all of you!!!

My big brothers getting married and he and his fiancée were kind enough to ask me to do their engagement photos. I was WAY nervous but WAY excited too! My Grandparents had just bought a classic 1950's car so I called them up and asked to use it and Ali bought this cute dress to go along with it. And in the end we got these fun adorable pics! This era fits Ali perfectly, my mom says they look like Lucy and Desi. While we were shooting a guy stopped and asked if we were there from some magazine company.

Now that the Christmas Cards are out, let me introduce ya to my whole Famn Damily.
I gotta give a big thank you to my friend Gwen who took time out of her Sunday to come take the shots with me in it. She did an awesome job!

Theres 8 kids so prepare yourself:)

First born was Steph. She married Pat and they have one daughter named Mercedes

Then came Chaz. He has a son named Hayden and hopefully this year he'll marry this cute red head Alison.

Next up was me. I married Josh and we have two boys X and Fred and a fat pug named Humphrey.

Then my little sis Rach was born. She's been with Luke forever and their baby is a dog named Addie.

My little brother Swenson brought the family to 5 when he was born. Sitting next to him is my baby sister Hannah.

They're the only 2 left living home.

This would be Joe and Heather or Bug as we like to call her. They brought the family to 7 until Hannah joined making us complete with 8 kids.

And from these 8 kids spawn were born.

1 Granddaughter 3 Grandsons.

Hannah is considered Grand since she's so young. :)

I finally figured out the silhouette trick! With the help of Brian. You have to have the sun directly behind the image and take aim the camera right into the sun. Then with a little photo shop help, you've got yourself some fun silhouettes

I'd forgotten how hard it is to get good lighting for indoor pictures. My wonderful Aunt Roxie hired me to take some pics of her lil family. I thought I had gotten good ones until I got home and found lots of red eye and shadows. *sigh* I was still able to pull some out of the mix tho and if I can talk my Aunt Roxie into it I'm going to go back for more. :) I had fun photographing a doggy for my first time tho. My pug is the only dog I've ever done photos of. Andie was so sweet and did a great job modeling for me.

My friends Mindy and Zach asked if I'd do their family pictures at Layton park. They love this park because it's where they hung out all the time during their dating years.

They're a way cute couple with adorable little kids.

It was freezing outside and the little girls got pretty cold, but, I still think we got some way cute shots.

Theres an enchanted place in Layton where a castle sits and theres a beautiful hiking trail to see Autumn leaves. You can get there by

Taking The old Highway to Layton,

Turn East on Cherry lane.

Follow the road until Fern wood drive, turn East.

Follow Fern wood drive until you spot the Castle. You can't miss it!

I use to go there as a kid and I'd forgotten about it until late last night when the memory popped in my head of how fun the leaves were here. So if you haven't, I highly suggest you do. The leaves are beautiful this year!

I cheated. The first 3 pics weren't taken in the canyon they were taken from parks around my town. I didn't photoshop these at all they are really this bright and colorful. I LOVE THEM! They make me happy to look at. :)

The best thing about doing my own photography is I can decide the day of to have my kids pictures taken. I think every mother should take up a hobby in Photography. Purchasing a nice camera is one of the best investments I've ever made.

This place was my beach when I was a kid. My mom use to take us here on hot afternoons and we'd cool off in the Salty lake. I LOVED it! I thought my boys should experience it and I thought it'd be a fun place for pictures. The song "The Great Salt Lake" by Band of Horses was running through my head the whole time.

I was an hour late to take these pictures because I had the times mixed up and I had the flu that day so I did this pictures in about half an hour. I wasn't happy with the colors or how I placed everybody at first but the more I look at them the more I like them. It was a little difficult to take pictures that I needed to be in. But, we made it work with a handy tri-pod and a timer.

On Saturday I had the opportunity to photograph my very first wedding. It was an awesome wedding! I don't know any girls (besides maybe my lil Sis Rach) that would hike up a mountain side in the rain ON THEIR WEDDING DAY! Heidi is one cool chick and she married herself one great guy. Sorry for the picture overload. I wish it were more organized but I'm short on time. I have tons of more pictures to go through but I know the bride and groom are anxious to see some. So here it is. Country life for me

I don't know if it's the book I'm reading or if I'm just tired of all the traffic, but lately I've been dreaming about Country life. Getting away from all the noise and getting back to nature. I've been taking long drives through the country on Sunday afternoons and last week I decided to take my camerea along so you could dream along with me.

This is my little country house that I'd live in with my little country kids and I'd have yummy Carmel apples for the trick or treaters that came at Halloween. Because in the country everybody is good and nobody would poison the kiddies.

This is the window to my attic. Where there is a big trunk full of all my old prom and wedding dresses and there is a full length mirror that my daughter will admire herself in while playing dress up.

Just like in the movies.

Here is my cow Bessie that I milk at 4am so I can have fresh milk from the cow every morning.

This is all my farming equipment that I must first learn the name of before I can learn how to use it.

Here is the gate that leads back to my open pond, surrounded by trees. Where I'll sit in my little boat reading a good book.

And at the end of the day I'll sit on my back porch in my rocker, watching the sun set and listening to the crickets chirp along with all the other natural sounds of the country.

I've got my eyes on some cowboy boots and I just might give in and buy them. Next thing ya know I'll be listening to country music and demanding Josh learn swing dance with me.

NAH.... I don't think I could handle all the hard work and the misquotes that would attack me every evening.

It's fun pretending like I could tho.

She was a little shy at first, but I think Spring has FINALLY sprung!

This little guy was a wonderful model. He was lying in the grass relaxing, when I started taking pictures he stood up and posed for me. He was still a little wobbly so I was able to get this cute shot.

I just wish I would have spotted him earlier in the morning instead of late afternoon. The sun was behind him, giving me bad lighting. :(
Luckily I was able to lighten it in PS, but I'm still not very happy with it.
